Our history

In 2003 EDF Energy as we know it today was born. Our history, however, begins before that: EDF Energy really came about when previous energy companies Seeboard, London Energy and SWEB were all brought together, in the few years leading up to 2002.

Since then, we’ve grown steadily, integrating and streamlining our operations to become nimbler and more effective in what is a fast-changing marketplace. We’re now one of the UK’s largest energy companies, and we’re involved in some of the biggest projects and developments in the UK. It’s an impressive achievement for such a short space of time.

You’ll be joining us at an exciting stage in our development. There’s a tremendous sense of urgency and momentum at EDF Energy: not only are we faced with some of the most challenging issues the industry has had to face, but, as a relatively new name within the UK, we’ve the potential and energy to make great strides forward.
